Online converters are convenient, but your documents may contain personal or business information. Use this checklist before you upload a file.
1. Check that the site uses HTTPS
Look for the padlock in the address bar. HTTPS encrypts the file while it travels between your device and the website.
2. Read the privacy policy
A trustworthy service explains what happens to your files, how long they are kept and which providers process them. Be careful with sites that make vague promises or have no policy at all.
3. Prefer tools that work in your browser
Some conversions, such as images to PDF, can run entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded, which is the safest option. Our JPG to PDF and PDF to JPG tools work this way.
4. Avoid uploading highly sensitive documents
Passports, medical records, bank statements and signed contracts deserve extra care. If you must convert them, use software installed on your own computer.
5. Remove sensitive details first
If you only need part of a document, remove or black out the rest before converting.
6. Keep your originals
Do not delete the source file until you have checked the converted result.
You can read how we handle files in our Privacy Policy.
